Autumn and Roxi Forever In Our Hearts

pixie-scared-cropped.png

A young frightened puppy became separated from her canine family who had been living on the streets. Visibly shaking.. cornered by a home in a poverty stricken area of Bessemer. Alabama.. all she knew was to bite at whatever came near. Undeterred.. we knew this day would start a new chapter in her life. A few weeks passed as the little white pup was provided all necessary veterinary treatment to find a home. Yet she was still unsure.. suspicious.. frightened. It would take a patient and loving person to help her build the confidence she lacked. We thought she should wait to transport until we could work with her. Pound on the Hill -Mass told us they had the perfect person for Pixie…

Roxi and Autumn.jpg

Her special person was Autumn .. and love her she did. It was clear at the onset that Autumn possessed the calm gentle loving spirit which melded with Roxi perfectly. The duo gave each other exactly what was needed. Roxi’s happy heart grew in leaps and bounds.. and she became confident. We will never understand the mysteries of life. Through rescue we have on occasion been honored to witness events unfold which could only be described as miracles.. divine intervention. Autumn and Roxi were one of those honors. Though Autumn’s physical being left us far too soon.. one of her final acts on earth was on giving. Her acts of compassion, love and spirit are evidenced today in Roxi. Though Lee and I did not know Autumn personally we know she was given a special purpose before her passing. No doubt Autumn’s spirit will endure in Roxi’s heart as with all who knew her. Autumn’s parents have taken on the honor of sharing in Roxi’s journey. She will forever be a part of Autumn’s family.. as it should be. Though the loss is great and the grief unimaginable.. Pound on the Hill celebrates your loved one, Autumn Lever. We appreciate you thinking of us during this painful time. Many donations have been sent to us on behalf of Autumn. The funds will be used to help other homeless dogs to become canine companions… who deserve the love that was found within your entire family.
